Lime Plastering
Our expert team specialises in the craft of lime plastering, a traditional technique requiring highly specific skills and great attention to detail. We carry out both internal and external lime plastering, which is popular due to its benefits over modern cement-based alternatives, including better breathability, flexibility, and sustainability, making it ideal for historic building restoration and for reducing the risk of damp.
Lime Rendering
Lime render exhibits greater flexibility compared to its cement counterpart, reducing the risk of cracks. This flexibility is particularly important in areas where buildings may experience slight movements – which is why lime render is often the material for the conservation and repairs of historic or heritage buildings. By minimising the occurrence of cracks, lime render helps keep water at bay and ensures the longevity of the building façade, without compromising the integrity of the structure – or the aesthetics!
Lime Washing & Thermal Cleaning
Limewash is a decorative and protective finish that has been traditionally used in the repair and conservation of historic buildings for thousands of years. It’s ideal for conservation cleaning and works as it produces a dynamic finish, as well as protecting from the elements. How often a property needs to be re-limewashed will vary on its exposure, but we can advise on this prior to work commencing.
Thermal cleaning is a process that is carried out with precision and skill as is a great way to restore decorative brickwork; it’s a technique used to remove stubborn dirt, carbon deposits, and biological growth (such as algae) from stone surfaces. This intricate process carefully preserves the character of the stonework; it demands a skilled hand, with a deep understanding and respect of stone properties.
Drystone & Dressed Walling
Whether you’ve got a historic property, a modern home, or even a listed property, our team are well versed in both building and restoring stone walls, whether drystone or dressed. We work delicately with this traditional craft to create or repair walling that celebrates the iconic Cotswold stone, this beautiful countryside, and its historic aesthetic.

Did you know that we also make our own lime-based products? We offer a huge range of premium lime products available at our yard here in Perrott’s Brook that are off-the-shelf and ready to take away. We can provide high-quality lime mortars, plasters, renders, and putty, ideal for restoration and conservation projects. We can also offer consultancy on the optimal use of any of our lime products, whether it be for restoration of a heritage property or work on a new build.
